First Entry

Harri & Mag
Welcome to my blog!  This is a first time experiment for me.  Improvement should be happening over time, hopefully!  Sharing some of our travels, experiences, and even mundane, daily life is the goal of this blog.  We are just down-home Southern folks plodding along day by day and striving to make life fun and enjoyable.  Come along and enjoy the ride with us!

Gardening is something we enjoy.  Our yard is one thing that gives us pleasure, and we have planted and decorated it just the way we like.  Because I am an artist, I have chosen to have whimsical yard art around the place.  The bright colors always cheer us up!

 Impatiens

and caladiums brighten the front yard.

Along the driveway marigolds, geraniums, and begonias thrive.

Our tomatoes have been prolific this year!
Hostas and hibiscus..........

Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme!
Mexican petunias, rudbeckia, and heirloom roses surround  painted flowers with bottle cap stems.

Bottle trees date back to the 9th century in Congo, Africa.  Our bottle tree keeps the evil spirits away!  In the Congo, it was said that colored glass attracted evil spirits and trapped them inside bottles. When the wind blew, the moaning sound made by the wind whistling in the bottles was said to be these trapped spirits.

Whimsical birdhouses and colorful yard art decorate the fence, while the knock out roses bloom abundantly from spring until fall!
Metal sunflowers, lizards, dragonflies, peacocks, and a gazing ball make a drab old fence come alive!

And, last, but certainly not least, is the beloved screened porch with colorful flags, originally intended to block the sun, but now are the perfect adornment for our yard.  Outdoor patio string lights stunningly illuminate on those cooler nights when we can enjoy a cold drink outside.
Thanks for joining us today.  Happy Friday!
