12 Favorite Restaurants

Some of our Preferred Beach Restaurants
We are part-time Redneck Riviera residents, and, as you've been able to tell from other posts, we love to eat at places with delicious fares!  As beautiful as the beaches are and as perfect as the weather usually is, L.A. is quite an interesting place, but the amazing choices of food are hard to beat! These are not the only places, but we seem to gravitate to them more often than others.  We are not partial to fancy atmospheres nor do we shy away from dives.  All we care about is food--good food, that is--fried, broiled, paneed, steamed, grilled, fine cuisine, .....we're not particular!  Hope you'll get to try some of these locations the next time you drop down south!

Awesome Seafood, Steaks and Sunsets!
Flippers Seafood and Oyster Bar is a favorite, located overlooking the bay at Bear Point Marina.  Come by car or boat, for casual family dining indoors or on our waterfront decks.  Hang out in the Broken Oar Tiki Bar, and ask about the 'Dolphin & Dine' combo cruise aboard the Cold Mil Fleet.

Perdido Key Oyster Bar Restaurant and Marina serving seafood, steaks, chicken, steamed food, Gulf Grouper, whole flounder, and domestic shrimp. Waterfront seating directly on the intracoastal waterway.

Gulfgate Restaurant in Orange Beach only serves local and fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico.  Their motto is "You Hook It, We Cook It!"  They proudly serve the finest beef from Buckhead, Atlanta.  There is an eclectic menu of specialty drinks for every taste.  Gulfgate features live music every Wednesday through Sunday.

The Shrimp Basket is a family, friendly restaurant that originated in Gulf Shores, Alabama in 1993, just two blocks north of the white sandy beaches.  Their menu encompasses a great variety of original seafood and local favorites. Ranging from shrimp, fish, crab claws, and crawfish, they also provide po-boys, chicken, and sandwiches for land lovers. Don’t forget about their specialty Roasted Red Pepper Bama Sauce over angel hair pasta!
The goal at the Shrimp Basket is to provide enjoyable, affordable service to each and every guest.
They are grillin’, steamin’, and fryin’ for you!

Duck's Diner in Orange Beach is family owned and operated. They serve the ultimate omelet, terrific breakfasts, and fantastic lunches including daily home cooked lunch specials.  My particular breakfast of choice is the Little Duck--2 eggs cooked your way, grits or hash browns, toast or biscuits, and ham, bacon, or sausage.

Nestled under the Baars bridge, Fisherman's Corner Seafood Pub sits as a favorite of the locals. It features a delicious Creole based menu, delightful staff, and a comfy casual atmosphere. Enjoy the fresh local seafood, dig in to the yummy pastas, and amazing bread pudding. Open daily, Fisherman's Corner has a magnificent wine and beer selection.

Off the beaten path on Canal Road in Orange Beach, Cosmo’s Restaurant & Bar is far from ordinary. Serving fresh and eclectic food since day one, Cosmo’s features a wide range of dining, enticing even the most discriminate. Using chef inspired ingredients, you can enjoy everything from hand-cut steaks and local seafood to pastas and sushi. This neighborhood favorite has taken cuisine to the cutting edge. With variations of local staples, their versions will make you sit back and take notice. Culinary greats such as the chicken roulade wrapped in bacon, the sesame seared tuna salad and the traditional crab cakes done with a twist, will have you wanting more. And to top it all off, The Year of Alabama Food named their Banana Leaf Wrapped Fish as one of “the top 100 dishes to eat before you die.” This epicurean delight is just one of the many masterpieces created daily in this out-of-the-way hot spot.

Come experience contemporary coastal cuisine at its best. Cobalt, in Orange Beach, features authentic dishes crafted by renowned chefs in three distinct kitchens. Nestled under the Perdido Bay Bridge, next to Caribe Resort, patrons can enjoy a spectacular view of the bay from every table. For those who wish to approach by water, there are numerous boat slips available for small boats as well as medium-sized yachts. However you choose to arrive, Cobalt offers a casual and relaxing atmosphere with waterfront dining, live music and superior service.
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Cobalt is truly a timeless treasure.

Louisiana Lagniappe Restaurant in Orange Beach, Alabama offers fine Louisiana seafood with a Creole flair, the attire is casual with an upscale waterfront dining experience.  Fine dining, a variety of specialty seafood and steak entrees along with spectacular sunsets make for a memorable occasion every time you visit Louisiana Lagniappe.

Owners Al and Diane Sawyer at King Neptune's Seafood Restaurant in Gulf Shores can be found there on any given day, keeping a hand in everything and ensuring the food is prepared to their exacting standards, all while greeting old friends and making new ones. Putting all their efforts into the restaurant, the surroundings at King Neptune’s are simple, yet comfortable with the focus on good, fresh food done right. The Sawyers are well known for having a great menu that locals appreciate as much, if not more, than visitors. King Neptune’s is known for being a southern restaurant where southern hospitality is a way of life. King Neptune’s has become known as the place to go in Gulf Shores when you want royal reds. These delectable, deep-water shrimp offer up a bright ruby red color and are sweet and salty, moist and tender, a little like some other foods, but in a class by themselves.

At Doc's Seafood Restaurant in Orange Beach you can experience a relaxed dining experience with friendly service. In fact the locals refer to it as "Laid back" beach atmosphere...No worries just GREAT FOOD...COLD OYSTERS on the HALF SHELL and a COLD glass of tea or your favorite beverage of choice.  They offer full bar service and don't worry that you will miss the "BIG GAME!" They've gotcha' covered with TVs for easy viewing.

Welcome to Shipp's Harbour Grill in Orange Beach, where locals and visitors alike enjoy Sportsman Marina's first-class restaurant. Shipp's Harbour Grill is the place for a drink, wonderful meal and the perfect end to the day. Casual waterfront dining with a tropical twist. Come in and enjoy some of their great starters like West Indies Salad and Pepper Fried Shrimp, or perhaps Sushi or Sashimi will whet your appetite. Oysters are always a favorite. Try 'em Spicy, Rockin', Nude, Steamed or Surfin'. They have the freshest fish and seafood available on the Alabama Gulf Coast and a range of steaks to die for like the ButterBoy or Stilton Stuffed Filet. Hungry yet?
